Sure would play more.. An Amazingly in-Depth Game and Feature Rich Game which I still can’t put down! A game that everyone that's a fan of Game Dev Tycoon and Software Inc will greatly enjoy for hours and hours and hours!”. worth every penny.great develpor who adds new game mechanics frequently.. Enjoying this tycoon-esque game. Does a very good job of complimenting together the concepts of time-management and resource allocation in the theme of game development. Is more engaging than Game Dev Tycoon, though less colourful. The world design [...] is superb! The gameplay [...] is fantastic and very complex while not being too diffcult! The writing [...] is OK, and could use some work. The sound [...] is overall very harmonized and fits well into this game. Overall, this game is very enjoyable and with the number of gameplay features to learn offers much replayability! My 2 suggestions would be:*brighter lighting in office spaces. Lightbulbs give the impression of very low wattage, and is sometimes difficult to interpret.*a setting for auto-pausing of time during more facets than when a game is finished developing. Maybe an option for every progress bar seen in the bottom left window? Being able to stay on top of monitoring when a designer finishes a task or when a game engine updates would save me a few years of lost in-game time!. I'm having fun with this one , can recommend . Some bugs but nothing major and the developer is very engaged in his project.. I REALLY recommend getting this game, I have been playing it for tons of hours and it never gets boring. I also love how this game is MUCH more complex than Game Dev Tycoon, but can still be enjoyable for hours.. Performance: 11/10It runs well, even on a potato (Maybe even a lemon)Fun level: 8/10I loved it, and that's mostly because I love tycoon games. Can be quite mindless at times, while other times it takes some attention.I have a short attention span generally, and it kept my attention for 3 hours in one sitting. One thing that appealed to me was the customization options. (I wish there were more though)Replayability: 7.5/10 (base game) 9/10 (with mods)I'm gonna have to say that I felt the extreme desire to use a mod or two on my second playthrough. However, with mods, it is clear that it is far more replayable. The modding community is very small, but the game looks easy to mod, so it you want to hop on in and try your hand at modding, I say go for it.Learning curve: SimpleOverall: 8.5/10Don't expect a masterpiece, but its definitely enjoyable.. This game depressed me some. It plays quite well, but I dunno, it just made me think of things....of people and places I know and did know, of what is and was. Maybe the way it looks and sounds has something to do with that, but that's just me, the game itself, I do enjoy. It just made my mind wander. It's a neat little game, for something that is just looking at bars fill up and numbers go up and down (That's essentially all games anyway under the hood). I was playing the introductory stage and completely screwed it up. It it easy to make too many games too quickly, hire too many people and just generally spend money you shouldn't. But that didn't hit me right away, about 6 years into my companies life it started to tank and by the year 2000 I had taken out all the loans I could and making budget games that couldn't scrape any decent profit in. All my employees were asking for raises I could no longer afford....I wish that you could bump their pay down until things improve, if ever. That's another thing, don't accept pay rises too often, the only way you can reverse them is to fire the staff. I was just getting into the rival system too. I had it on normal difficulty as well, the default very easy is....well very easy. Normal is a nice challenge if you don't needlessly spend money like I did.*Edit*After spending some more time with it....I still think it's O.K. But it didn't really go anywhere. I dunno, kinda mixed on it.. Editing review after 11 hours of play**Edit Review after 90 hours..The TL/DREdit* After 90 hours, I definately got my monies worth. I could not be happier, updates have been consistent and dev actually listens to community. Not bad for a 1 person team. Support this one get more great games from responsible dev's!Buy it, its worth it. My views:I patiently waited for this game and had it on my wishlist followed for 3 months prior to its release. I agree that the game seems early access as other reviewers have mentioned. However; what other reviewers are not talking about is the insane speed patches come after a bug is reported in the forums. The developer is ontop of the game, more so than I have seen in other early access/released games. Multiple updates a day! I have over 600+ games in my library, few are indie titles, and some early access. Out of all of my games I see updates for this one most often and it just came out! That says something, I have had pre-orders on almost all of my games (yes im that guy who pre-orders everything) and have never seen the speed of response shown by this developer before! About the game:In Game Dev Studio every early decision is crucial if you make the wrong hire, place a desk in the wrong spot, or flop your first game expect to be punished. This level of difficulty is refreshing as this game DOES NOT OFFER A SECOND CHANCE. It is a brutally realistic concept, if your business fails your done, no loan will save you. I personally enjoy this level of difficulty in a tycoon style game. Early game:Early play is frustrating, you will fail alot and restart from scratch. One of the ways I overcame the early parts is to save before making a game incase of a Oh darn release. You can lose money on your games. I do not remember if it was possible to do so in Game Dev Tycoon. Mid Game:This was the most fun for me as the building mechanic and second office mechanic were refreshing to see in the tycoon genre. I honestly think this was the best implementation in Game dev stylized games I have ever seen; granted, it is buggy, but we will get to that aspect. It is fun to start playing around with multiple teams working on different projects/patches/xpansions. And very rewarding to watch your bank account increase beyond Art of Electronics wildest dreams and smash them into oblivion with microtransactions, Muahahaha! End game:Like so many other games, the end game is just not there. Tech to research, engine updates, new genre combinations are just not there. Also if you invest your games into only PC (I am PC 4 Life) you get no platform variation at the end. Competitors are also non existent at this point since you basically smash them mid game. The fun in the end game for me was designing and starting multiple offices and experimenting with team variations. Value and Longevity of game:*Note: this is before Mod support implementation and I am sure Mod's will only add to the value and longevity of this game*I typically can defeat a tripple A title in a day to three days. Game Dev Studio took me 2 days to defeat. When you think about value per play hour that averaged $0.81/hour (8.99/11 hours) I would personally say that is an amazing value as typically I average 4+/hour. Therefore I can only recommend it as an absolute buy at a sub 10.00 price point. I truly do believe this game would have benefited from an early access period/beta. However; the game, did not get them so the developer can only do what he can. Hindsight is 20/20 there is no reason to bash him for this as I can think of several * cough Elex, THQ * games where in hindsight developers would have benefited from doing things differently. I can also think about times in my own life where I would have done things differently. The 0/10 Scores I would give:Graphics 6/10 For indieStory 5/10Strategy 10/10Depth 10/10Audio 7/10Tutorial No hand holding here 10/10Patch Support 10/10Overall:58/70 = 82% favorable in my personal opinion. Edit// For the sake of transparency I've left the original review up, but I've since changed my score for the game. Firstly, kudos for the dev. They update the game regularly and listen to feedback, that goes a long way. A lot of things have changed since last I played this and many of the issues in my original review have been addressed. I would recommend the game now. Great little time waster for a very reasonable price. Original review:Game is way too hard. Needs serious balancing. Time moves too quickly, everything is breakneck speed and you easily go bankrupt. Games never seem to make money even when they're hits. You'll only make 300k from a good game early on and generally your salaries will drain you back to zero by the time development on the next game is done prevetning you from ever making a profit. You can only make a profit by charging more for games, the only way you can do that is by making bigger scope games, making bigger scope games bankrupts you lol. Kudos for the developer for listening to feedback and patching frequently, but as of right now I can't recommend this until the game is better balanced. It's just obscenely hard and the speed of the game makes it unenjoyable for me. One game takes 3-4 years of game time to make and it's just absurd as your employees ask for raises literally every six months and quit after another 6 if you don't give it to them.
